Severe Environment Control System (SECS)

Modern vehicles increasingly integrate sophisticated navigation, communication, and systems monitoring into unified electronic systems, greatly enhancing operator situational awareness and effectiveness across air, land, and sea platforms.

However, traditional control interfaces — keyboards, mice, trackballs, and bezel buttons — were originally designed for office environments, and their use in mobile vehicles remains difficult and potentially hazardous.

Azimuth’s SECS offers a novel solution to this Man-Machine Interface (MMI) challenge. Leveraging a familiar, intuitive control mechanism inspired by consumer electronics, SECS delivers a rugged, reliable interface specifically engineered for harsh mobile environments.

Originally developed for Special Boat Units, SECS is built to withstand the extreme conditions of high-speed, open-cockpit patrol boats, ensuring reliable operation where traditional controls fail.

Motion Data Acquisition System (MDAS)

The MDAS was developed for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (Panama City) to support the long-term collection of shock and vibration data in extreme mobility environments.
Specifically designed for deployment aboard offshore patrol vessels, the MDAS automatically captures critical motion data during high-speed missions transporting Naval Special Warfare operators.

Significant shock and vibration exposure on these vessels has been linked to short-term injuries and long-term disabilities among occupants.
By enabling the first long-term historical database of operational shock and vibration data, the MDAS will provide vital information to drive the development of improved equipment designs and operational procedures — with the ultimate goal of mitigating shock exposure and reducing injury rates.
